Zuc is small, very fast, competitive and plays the game the way its played today so he would be a good add for us but no way in hell would I include our first with him as the primary piece coming back . I would rather have a 200 plus pound version of him.
Brian Boyle getting NJ a 2nd round pick scares the crap out of me!

Yea, the issue is we have players of his ilke (small, skilled forwards)
I feel if we want to upgrade the forward ranks, it would be to add someone with more playoff grit, has a body that can crash/bang and still chip in on the leader board

Zucs would be a fine addition anywhere else, but does he last in the playoffs on our team?

Brian Boyle getting a 2nd rd pick should scare the crap out of you. As a Rangers fan who has watched both Boyle and Zucc for several years I can safely say that Zucc should command a much higher price than Boyle.

My first thought when seeing the Boyle trade was that the price for Zucc just became a 1st round pick which I originally thought was too much for a rental.

That said, Zucc is a warrior in the playoffs and will fit in with the style of game Calgary plays. He would be a solid addition.

Zuccarello good little gritty fast guy. But we have that up and down the roster.
No disrespect todd you are an excellent blogger. Way better then me! You can spell and put punctuation where it belongs.… but honestly take that corsi poop and stick it up someone’s ass!! I played hockey for 35 years. 7 or so of that at a very competitive leavel. And then coached for 15 more. Not saying I’m an expert, but I am old school. And old school guys watch how players play! We don’t rely on a glorified plus minus stats ( which I don’t like either) Yeah corsi is a tool to use. But really watch the game watch the player see the little things he does with the puck without the puck. My rant is over… thx for your blog though! Keep up the good work!

That's the price you pay to beef up size in the playoffs. Reaves got a first years ago, I'm not at all surprised or scared off by the 2nd rounder for Boyle

I would love to have Zucc, for the right price. But I too share the opinion of a lot of my friends here. Do we really need another pint sized player for the playoffs? That’s what scares me off a little.

I’ve been pushing conversation about picking up Kreider for a few months now, fast and big and only 26, with one more year to go at a good cap hit. He’d have to waive his NMC, but with NYR rebuilding I think he would waive to come to Calgary as we should be contenders for years to come. My concern is his price.

Kreids is 27 with a year left on a very friendly deal. I personally would like to keep him, but if the right offer comes around you move him. That being said, it would have to blow Gorton away. 1st, top prospect and roster player

Hayes, Zucc, and MCquaid will be moved before him

Hmm.

2019 1st, Austin Czarnik, and Andrew Mangiapane. Could possibly swap Mangiapane for Dillon Dube, but that’s too expensive a price. Could also swap in Oliver Kylington if Hamonic isn’t going to be out for a long time.

Take your pick.

Hayes, sure.

McQuaid?! 33 years old, 1G 3A this year. He’s a middle class Dalton Prout. No thank you.

2019 1st Round Pick
Smith
Frolik

to

Arizona
Crouse
Kuemper
Merkley

Not my favorite pitch here but it would get us some younger size in the bottom 6 and a competent back up for Rittich.

Mcquaid could fetch a 4th or 5th. Hes been solid bottom pairing, but missed 20 game bc of injury. Not a bad depth guy for cheap

I still think we should call up Lazar and give him a good run. Seems to be playing pretty good. He’s willing to throw down if needed too. Had a few scraps with the heat recently.

Having someone to drop the gloves and step up down the stretch would be great but at this point the trade deadline has to be about the playoffs and there is no fighting come playoff time. We do need some weight up front though that can skate and grind it out in a 7 game series when everyone plays big and the refs let the players play.

He’s 205+ lbs and has some skill. I think he’s earned a look. Czarnik isnt doing anything that Lazar couldn’t do and at least he brings some grit and size.

Sure he's earned another look but would need to play left wing if he slots in for Mangiapane.

I wouldn’t mind that actually. Send Mang down, get some good minutes and confidence

If not Lazar maybe Rychel? Worth a shot before the deadline. See what they can do before we go out and make a trade.
